Nicholas “Nick” Ronald Hayden, 40, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. His life was a powerful testament to resilience, determination, and an unwavering spirit that inspired all who knew him.
Born on July 15, 1985, in Louisville, Nick was diagnosed at birth with spina bifida, a condition that presented lifelong challenges. Yet, he never allowed those obstacles to define him. From an early age, Nick defied expectations, embracing life with courage and enthusiasm. He participated in sports such as baseball, basketball, and golf, and treasured experiences like helicopter rides, horseback riding, swimming, and beach trips. He later graduated from Eastern High School, marking an important milestone in his journey.
Nick was a passionate sports fan who rarely missed a NASCAR race and proudly supported the Dallas Cowboys. He also held a special place in his heart for the Louisville Cardinals, often enjoying games alongside his father. His pride in his work at Goodwill Industries of Kentucky reflected his strong work ethic and sense of purpose.
Known for his warm personality, Nick had a remarkable sense of humor and a kindness that drew people to him. He had a gift for making others feel welcome, never meeting a stranger and always leaving a lasting impression.
Nick is survived by his father, Ron Hayden (Lindsay); his sisters, Leslie, Kasey, and Abby; his nephews; and his aunt Kelly, along with many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Toni Carrillo.
Though his physical body faced limitations, Nick’s spirit remained boundless. His family finds peace in knowing he is now free, and his story continues in a greater, more beautiful way.
