Steven M. Bardsley Chelmsford, MA Obituary, Death: Tribute to Steven M. Bardsley: Beloved Husband, Father, and Hockey Enthusiast

It is with deep sadness that the passing of Steven M. Bardsley, 49, of Chelmsford, is announced. Steven passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Steven was the devoted husband of Norberta M. (Fernandes) Bardsley, with whom he shared a loving marriage spanning nearly two decades. The couple would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary next January, a milestone that reflects the strength and devotion of their bond. He was a proud and caring father to his son, Brian Bardsley of Chelmsford, and a son to Brian and Susanne (Defino) Bardsley of Burlington.

Born on August 9, 1976, in Waltham, Steven was raised in Burlington, where he attended local schools and graduated from Burlington High School before earning his bachelor’s degree. He carried his strong work ethic and determination throughout his life, earning the respect of all who knew him.

Steven had a lifelong love of hockey, beginning in childhood and continuing through his high school years and into adulthood. In more recent years, he played with the Junior Bruins, continuing to pursue the sport he loved. Beyond his athletic passion, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, creating cherished memories and sharing life’s milestones together.

He is also survived by his siblings, Michael Bardsley and his wife Jenna of Lowell, and Melissa Oliviera and her husband Nick of Billerica; his in-laws, Urialdo and Odilia Fernandes; and a large extended family of brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces who will all remember his warmth and presence.

Steven will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his love, strength, and devotion to his family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10–11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell, followed immediately by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
