It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathy that we remember Kevin Vanover, a beloved father, dedicated nurse, and cherished member of the community in Whitesburg, who passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 47. His passing has left family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him grieving a profound and unexpected loss.
Born on January 24, 1979, in Hazard, Kevin was the son of Virgil Vanover Sr. and Brenda Woods Vanover. From an early age, he demonstrated a caring spirit and a strong sense of responsibility—qualities that would later define both his personal life and his professional career.
Kevin served as a Registered Nurse with the Supplemental Staffing Team at Appalachian Regional Healthcare, where he was known for his compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to patient care. He approached his work not simply as a profession, but as a calling to serve others. Colleagues remember him as dependable, skilled, and deeply empathetic—someone who brought comfort and reassurance to patients and support to his fellow healthcare workers.
Above all, Kevin was a devoted and loving father. His children were the center of his world, and he took great pride in providing for them, guiding them, and sharing in their lives. The love he gave so freely will continue to live on through them and the many memories they created together.
Friends and coworkers describe Kevin as a kind-hearted individual who was always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His presence brought warmth and positivity to those around him, and his loss is deeply felt by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
As the community mourns, many have come together in prayer and support for his family, especially his mother, Brenda, during this incredibly difficult time. The outpouring of love reflects the impact Kevin had on so many lives.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Vanover family, friends, and colleagues. Kevin Vanover’s legacy of compassion, service, and love will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
