The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday on Crimora Station Lane in Crimora, Virginia.
According to Sheriff Donald L. Smith, emergency services received a 911 call at approximately 1:08 a.m. reporting that a person had been shot. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the location to respond to the incident.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officials located an adult male who had sustained fatal injuries. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
Sheriff Smith stated that, at this stage of the investigation, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the wider community. Residents in the area are not believed to be in danger, and the situation is considered contained.
