A 41-year-old man, Bradley Nicholson, has been sentenced to 28 years to life in prison following a shooting incident involving Fresno Police officers, authorities confirmed.
The sentence was handed down Thursday afternoon in a Fresno County courtroom after Nicholson entered a no contest plea as part of a stipulated agreement. A judge denied probation and ordered him committed to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Nicholson was convicted of attempted murder of a police officer and assault on a peace officer in connection with a December 7, 2025, incident in which he fired a weapon at two Fresno Police officers.
According to investigators, officers initially approached Nicholson in an alley near West and Clinton Avenues after observing behavior they considered suspicious. The encounter quickly escalated into a violent confrontation that was later captured on police body-worn camera footage released in February.
In the video, Nicholson can be heard repeatedly telling officers to “let me go” during the struggle before he discharged a firearm at them. Officers returned fire, and Nicholson then barricaded himself inside a nearby carport. He eventually surrendered to police after sustaining a graze wound to his cheek.
Authorities confirmed that neither officer was physically injured, though one bullet struck and passed through the top of an officer’s hat.
Prosecutors described the incident as extremely dangerous, noting that officers narrowly avoided being killed while performing their duties.
