The community is saddened by the passing of Ryan King, 38, of West Richland, who lost his life on Tuesday following a motorcycle crash in The Dalles.
The collision occurred on Interstate 84 when Mr. King’s motorcycle struck an Oregon Department of Transportation attenuator vehicle that was positioned in the left-hand lane to support a roadway maintenance sweeping operation along the center median. Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, but Mr. King was tragically pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported.
Following the incident, traffic on the interstate was temporarily diverted while authorities secured the area, conducted a full investigation, and worked to safely clear the roadway. Officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Ryan will be remembered by his family, friends, and all who knew him for his presence in their lives and the moments shared with those closest to him. His passing leaves a profound sense of loss within his community, where he will be deeply missed.
